SRARNZ Student Travel Award
The Student Conference Travel Award is awarded to students who are giving a presentation at an SRARNZ conference. The award is designed to assist with travel, not fully subsidised costs. The value of the award and eligibility of students are decided by the Council before each conference. Students must be a member of SRARNZ and currently enrolled in an educational institution at the time of presentation of their work to receive the award. The Award will be advertised when the registrations open at the next SRARNZ Conference.
The Nicola Grimmond Student Award
The Nicola Grimmond Student Award is awarded to the best oral and/or visual presentation(s) at an SRARNZ biennial conference. More than one category may be awarded, depending on funds available. The award was re-named from the SRARNZ Presidents Award in 2003 to the Nicola Grimmond Student Award, in honour of the late Nicola Grimmond, who initiated the fund in 2001. The value of the award is decided by the Council before each conference, and includes a one-year membership to SRARNZ.
Criteria & eligibility
‘Student’ means that the research work presented was done by the person while enrolled in an educational institution. The work must be presented within three years of the educational qualification being awarded. Joint authorship will only be eligible where either all authors are students or where non-student author(s) are both secondary and minor, e.g., when a co-author is a supervisor (eligibility decided by the judges). Students must be members of SRARNZ at the time of presentation of their work to receive the award.
Adjudication
For each conference, at least two judges will be appointed to make the award(s). The judges will normally be SRARNZ members. The judges will decide eligibility and recommend the award of prize(s) based on their assessment of the presentation. No prize will be awarded if the judges so deem.
